There are too many homeless guinea pigs. Too many guinea pigs in shelters end up being put to sleep for lack of a home and through no fault of their own. This site is dedicated to helping find homes for any guinea pigs who are in shelters or rescues, or in private homes where the situation is such that they must be rehomed. Please, no breeder or shower listings.

The Gray Area

To anyone who breeds or shows as well as rescues, we applaud your efforts for whatever rescue you do. As it relates to this site, however, we feel we can not allow breeder or shower postings, even if it is for a 'rescued' guinea pig. Please use other forums that are available to you to pursue finding homes for these rescues. Please email webmaster@cavyrescue.com if you need more information.

Policy Management

This site is managed by Teresa Murphy of Cavy Spirit, Inc., an established Guinea Pig Rescue. Input, guidance, and advice is taken from major rescues all over the country as well as input from some rescuers in the UK. The policies for this site were established on December 1, 2001. There are a number of rescues listed who used to breed and/or show in the past, and do so no longer. We expect any rescue listed on the Rescue list to comply not only with the no breeding or showing policy, but the spirit of the policy and to support it fully in their practices. We reserve the right to remove any listing at our discretion. Reasons for removing any listing may be requested and will be provided.
